Poem from the WOKING RAILWAY CLUB LINEDANCERS
ODE TO EVE
Another year has come and gone
Another dance, another song.
You at the front, script in hand.
Come on everybody-follow the band
Janet's here at the back
Making sure that we don't slack.
With this dance you have to wiggle,
Oh, someone here's about to giggle!
The dance starts slow, but then gets faster,
With us its bound to be a disaster!
well maybe not, you jump, and clap,
Then give your bum a mighty slap!
You point your feet
and then knees bend
When suddenly, its at an end.
Well that wasn't too bad,
I think Eve is some what glad,
As she goes out to the Loo
She Shouts a very loud "Yahoo"
Well, we have done our very best,
And feel its time to have a rest.
Now thats underneath our hat,
Its time for drinks and much needed chat!
We've had our break, not long to wait
When Eve, says would you like one more?
Lets get your feet back on the floor!
so up we get, to make a start,
before its time for us to depart.
after all is said and done.
Eve's class is so much blinking FUN!
Thank you Eve!
Your welcome!! Thanks Eve
Poem from the Arena class
EVE'N' MORE LINES
HALF PAST NINE ON A WEDNESDAY MORN
FOR ONE OF THE DAYS I'M GLAD I WAS BORN
THOUGH LATER THERE'S A LITTLE STRAIN
CO-ORDINATING FEET AND BRAIN
FOR EXERCISE AND SOME LINES OF JEST
'COS FOR LINE DANCING I AM DRESSED
TO START THE DANCING IS EVE'S BATTLE
TO GET SOME HUSH FROM THE NOISY CACKLE
ARRAYED AS USUAL IN THREE LINES
DOING ROCKS AND PIVOTS SHUFFLES AND VINES
WE'VE DONE THE WARM UP, OR EVEN MORE
WHEN SHEILA BURSTS IN THROUGH THE DOOR
CAMEL WALKS,PIGEON TOES, A ROLL OF THE KNEE
A LEG OVER SHUFFLE, LIKE YOUR HOLDING YOUR WEE
I'LL TRY AND GIVE MY BRAIN A TWEAK
TO REMEMBER ALL THESE STEPS FOR NEXT WEEK
WITH 'WALK THE LINE' I DID THE 'BIZ'
BUT THATS BECAUSE I WAS FOLLOWING LIZ
EVE'S GIVEN US FUN THIS PASSING YEAR
TUITION HAS BEEN VERY CLEAR
EVEN WHEN STOPPING IN MID STREAM
AND EVE'S CONFESSED SHE WAS IN A DREAM
SHE'S EVEN DOUBLED THE JOURNEYS' RISKS
WHEN LEAVING AT HOME THE MUSIC DISCS
THROUGH COUGHS AND COLDS AND WATERING EYES
ALWAYS EVE'S MATERIALISED
BRINGING NEW STEPS FOR US TO LEARN
MOST WE LIKED, BUT SOME WOULD SPURN
WE 'WALTZED ACROSS TEXAS' AND HAD 'IRISH STEW'
THEN GRADUALLY THE 'LEMON TREE' GREW
WE'LL REMINISCE AS WE PIVOT AND WEAVE
SO THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE EVE.
From a member at the former arena leisure centre class
